Tariff Classification Explained

Selected Date: Friday 23 June 2017

Course Venue: Cheadle

Designed for anyone involved in classifying goods whether for import, export or EU trade statistical purposes this one day presentation looks at the background to the tariff, the structure of the Integrated Tariff of the UK and explains the structure of commodity codes and provides useful tips on understanding tariff classification and finding the correct commodity codes for your goods. We will be looking at the rules relating to tariff classification, the GIR’s Binding Tariff rulings and international trade procedures related to commodity codes, e.g. duties, preference, prohibitions and restrictions and reviews the Brexit impact on these areas. During the day we will go through guidance on specific commodities but the presenters will not have time to classify specific products. Our tariff classification course is a practical workshop with top tips and case studies throughout.  The course also reviews the impact of ITA-II on duty rates (July 2016) and the 2017 changes to the Harmonised System – HS2017.  Eligible for 15 CPD points.
