EU published new GSP scheme for 2014

31st October 2012 the EU published its revised preferential import scheme for developing countries under the Generalised System of Preferences.  Key points:

Main features of the new GSP

  • Concentrating GSP preferences on fewer countries.
  • Reinforcing the incentives for the respect of core human and labour rights, environmental and good governance standards through the GSP+ scheme.
  • Strengthen the effectiveness of the trade concessions for Least Developed Countries through the "Everything but Arms" scheme.
  • Increasing predictability, transparency and stability.
