Fact Sheet on EU and its Trade Partners

In the aftermath of the global economic and financial crisis of 2008, the EU has accelerated moves away from the production of labour-intensive, low-value products so as to specialise in higher-value, branded goods. Persistent trade barriers, however, interfere with the efforts of European exporters. To overcome these and level the playing field for its businesses, the Union has been negotiating a number of free trade agreements.
