EU Draft negotiating Brexit prosition released

Posted on: 29/05/2017

The EU released draft negotiating positions on Brexit today, focusing on protecting citizens’ rights and the financial settlement to be paid once Britain leaves the bloc. It sets out the methodology for calculating the amount the U.K. should pay and says it should cover operational costs of 74 EU agencies and institutions, including the pay of English teachers in Brussels’ European Schools until the end of the academic year 2020-2021. The Bank of England will also receive a reimbursement of its contributions to the European Central Bank.

Two-thirds of people believe Theresa May should reveal her Brexit strategy more clearly before polling day on June 8, according to an ORB poll for the Independent. Seventy-four percent of those aged 18 to 24 are worried about giving May a blank check in the negotiations.
