EU renews sanctions on Russia

EU Council has decided to renew its economic sanctions against Russia for another 6 months, until 21 January 2018.  The sanctions target Russia’s financial, energy, and defence sectors, as well as its access to dual-use goods. On 19 March 2015, the Council agreed to link the duration of the sanctions to Russia’s complete implementation of the Minsk peace agreements, and the EU remains committed to this position.
