EU Sanctions on Venezuela

On 13 November 2017 the European Union imposed new sanctions against Venezuela. The new measures are contained in Council Decision 2017/2074/CFSP and Council Regulation (EU) No 2017/2063.  The restrictive measures came into force on 14th November 2017 and include:

  1. Arms embargo on all items on the UK Military List including the provision of technical assistance, financing and financial assistance, brokering and other services
  2. Prohibition on the supply of equipment which might be used for internal repression including the provision of technical assistance, financing and financial assistance, brokering and other related services.
  3. Equipment for monitoring communications (eg surveillance equipment) including the provision of technical assistance, financing and financial assistance, brokering services
  4. Financial sanctions
