UK Government to publish no-deal Brexit reports

Posted on: 18/08/2018

Press reports today (18th Aug 2018) say that during Aug-Sept 2018 will see 84 reports published relating to a no-deal exit from the EU and the impact on UK citizens and businesses.

In July 2018, PM Theresa May told a parliamentary committee that about 79 "technical notifications" would be released advising individuals and busineses on how to prepare for a no-deal withdrawal.  There are many challenging issues and, though the reports will aim to be factual in content, some of the affects will come as a shock to the general public.  The reports will cover areas that come under a number of government departments, including the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Department for International Trade (DIT), HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), Department for Transport (DFT) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Stategy (BEIS).

They will be published on a bespoke page of the website.  All reports will be fascinating to read, we believe, but some reports for S&H client businesses to look out for are:

  • Aviation security
  • Chemicals regulation
  • Commercial road haulage
  • Customs and borders
  • e-Commerce and geo-blocking
  • Environmental standards
  • Export control regulation
  • Health and identification marks for products of animal origin
  • Imports of food and feed
  • Oil and gas
  • Product regulation
  • Registration of veterinary medicines
  • Trade agreements continuity
  • Trade remedies
  • UK trade tariff
  • VAT

See full list.  Will will also post these to our clients and publish on our website when available.
