UK Exports Improve in August

Posted on: 15/10/2018

UK Exports in January to August performed better than in the previous month, thanks to improved sales to Asia and Western Europe.

Export growth for the period was 7%, considerably down on the 19.4% achieved in the previous year. Best performing region was Asia and Oceania, showing 16% growth, followed by Western Europe (non EC) at 12%. Exports to the EU showed third highest growth at 6%.

Markets showing outstanding growth included Bangladesh (+37%), Cambodia (+36%) and China (+29%).Closer to home, exports to Croatia oared by 38%, to Greece by 30%, to The Netherlands by 22% and to Turkey by 18%.
Although exports to EU markets are still showing buoyancy, Strong and Herd are recommending that exporters seek to mitigate against the risk of Brexit to their business in the EU by investigating opportunities in growing markets. We have introduced a series of one day courses to help exporters research and plan for entry into emerging markets. Contact us for more details
