Any member of staff who has 10 or more years’ relevant experience in international trade can be nominated to become a full member of the IoE. This will permit the person to use the initials MIEx after their name. The relevant person will be proposed by S&H and seconded by the Director General of the IoE.

The Advanced Certificate in International Trade students will acquire and demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the principles, procedures and documentation of International Trade. Available to any over 18 years of age or over and have 4 GCSE/GCE O Levels A-C Grades including English Language and1 A level or equivalent OR have NVQ Level 2 in International Trade Services OR 21 years of age or over with 3 year practical experience in international trade. Once students have successfully passed the ACIT they can apply for Associate Membership of the Institute, and are entitled to use the suffix of AMIEx and proceed to the Diploma qualification.
The Advanced Certificate in International Trade (ACIT) focuses on the practical aspects of International Trade and consists of four modules:

Entry into the Diploma in International Trade is by successful completion/or exemption of ACIT only. The Diploma in International Trade (DIT) examines the ability of the student to manage the broader managerial aspects of International Trade and make the right decisions when problems arise. Students cannot sit the Diploma examination unless they have successfully passed all four papers of the ACIT or have been granted exemptions.
On successful completion of the DIT, students will qualify for Graduate Membership of the Institute and will be entitled to use the suffix of MIEx (Grad). The four modules are:

Entry into the Foundation Degree in International Trade is usually at an A level, NVQ level 3, with Maths and English GCSEs at grade C, or equivalent, are required. Students who may not meet these criteria but have relevant work experience are encouraged to apply and credit may be awarded for prior learning and experience. Such applications will be considered on an individual basis. They also require students to have a good standard of English (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent), evidence if necessary by standard level qualifications.
