Shipping Office services

Daily shipping office that acts as your own "shipping department". We have the experience to ensure your company remains compliant with the laws relating to international trade as well as helping you benefit from improved compliance and expertise aspects of Customs procedures. We do the paperwork. Who benefits from S&H -SOS?
Clients are companies falling in one or more of the following categories: * Companies wishing to out-source the shipping office function; * Companies who lack experience in international trade procedures and need independent assistance; * Companies with a low level of export/import activity who cannot afford to take on permanent, skilled staff; * Companies with a specific skill shortage, e.g. letters of credit, export licence regulations, IPR, etc., who require occasional assistance. * Departments who have a temporary shortage of trained staff due to holidays, ill health or maternity leave. * The help-line option: for busy export and import staff who can rely on getting practical advice when required from experienced, independent practitioners. It can be lonely out there! Clients can sign up with S&H on a short term or long-term basis (12 months) or just for a specific job. We are not freight forwarders so have no link with any freight company. We use the systems, forwarders, banks, procedures you have in place ... unless you ask us to review them. Foreign Customs regulations; documentary requirements (eg import licences); import duty rates; pre-shipment inspection of goods. Political aspects: DTI & Foreign Office reports; safety of UK Nationals. * TRANSPORTATION - Freight costs and other logistical aspects at the bid/quotation stage. Includes advice on packing, aviation security and the hazardous goods regulations. Tracking & tracing of outgoing consignments. * METHODS OF PAYMENT - Assistance at contract and despatch stage to aid payment. * EXPORT DOCUMENTATION - The regulations including, ATA Carnets, Certificates of Origin, UK export declarations, legalisation of documents (Arab/British). ^ top

Import departments

  • PURCHASING FROM OVERSEAS - INCOTERMS 2000 and the cost implication on purchases; transit time; UK customs requirements. Tracking & tracing of incoming goods. * DUTY AND VAT ASPECTS OF IMPORTS - The methods of paying duty/VAT; tariff classification rules; using import duty waivers and suspensions; MoD DODIM 77 equipment accounting rules (affects stores/goods receiving) * ORIGIN OF GOODS - extra-territoriality control; rules of origin related to import preferences; US re-export regulations. ^ top

OneCall is our business support service created to assist importers and exporters. Includes the “Did You Know” email information service to help keep you up-to-date with current international trade and customs issues.
OneCall Level 1 - £125.00 + VAT per year
    * 6 - 8 questions per years (approx 2 hrs pa) * A twice-monthly email up-date service * Special offers on S&H public training * "Top-up" hours available
OneCall More - £472.00 + VAT per year
    * Approx 8 questions per calendar quarter ("top up" available) * 5% off S&H public training * 15% off all S&H in-company work * Option to convert "onecall time" into 2 hours desk or face-to-face work per year by trained S&H staff * A twice-monthly email up-date service * Special offers on S&H public training
OneCall Plus - £1295.00 + VAT per year
    * Up to 20 questions per month, and/or * Up to 2 hours work per month by trained S&H staff at S&H offices * 10% off S&H public training * 25% off all S&H in-company work * Option to convert "office time" into a full or part day consultancy or audit work at your premises (subject to travel expenses) or at S&H offices. * On special request an out-of-hours service can be provided to "One Call Plus" clients. * A twice-monthly email up-date service * Special offers on S&H public training

Response time will generally be within 24 hours during normal working hours 09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday. Out-of-hours service may be requested with OneCall+
