Document code 9Y16 is used by importers to claim a contractual waiver. From 30 September 2026, this code will cease to be valid.

Importers use document code 9Y16 to claim a contractual waiver for eligible steel imports during the specified period. To use the code correctly, importers must be able to evidence that the goods are covered by a qualifying contract signed before 14 March 2026.

This applies to steel imports made between 1 July 2026 and 30 September 2026, where the goods are subject to a contract signed before 14 March 2026.

When declaring the goods on CDS, enter the identification number of the document that proves the goods are being imported under a contract signed before 14 March 2026.

After 30 September 2026, document code 9Y16 will cease to be valid for goods imported after that date. Out-of-quota imports will then be liable to a 50% duty.
